then this is developed into a specific sound.

Bruno, a three year old, shaves like dad. As he does the shaver action he makes the "SSS" sound. In this way, sound and letter can be understood as both spoken and written word. He has learnt a word more easily than an abstract letter.

Some children start reading at the age of three, before school. Then, teachers no longer perceive some children as having learning difficulties.
